The Five Municipals:  | Arjeplog | Arvidsjaur | Jokkmokk | Malå | Älvsbyn
Broadband

Fibre-optic cables have been laid down from the premises of the various car testing companies to the primary node in each municipal area and then connected to commercial regional and national networks, where teleoperators offer a variety of services and capacity at competitive prices.

The project is financed by Nutek, Vattenfall and the county administration boards of Norrbotten and Västerbotten as well as other projects within Norrbotten.

The project includes the municipalities of Arjeplog, Arvidsajur, Sorsele, Malå, Älvsbyn, Jokkmokk and Kiruna.

The cables contain 12-48 fibres.
Only so-called “black fibre“ cables have been used which means that it is possible for the operators to rent fibre pairs, create light in the the cable and thereby offer broadband services to the car testing companies.
