Automotive testing can include the evaluation of prototype designs and concepts. Security is a consideration as descriptions of a product still in development can be inaccurate and thus mislead potential customers. Lightly populated areas allow for optimal management of people movements in and around test areas.

Sweden contains some of the world’s most lightly populated areas. For example, contrast Sweden’s density of 21,8 persons per square kilometer with Japan’s 336 persons per square kilometer.

In the region of northern Sweden where automotive testing is conducted the population density is a low 0,89 persons per square kilometer.

Yet the low population density doesn’t mean that North Sweden is isolated and lacking in essential resources needed by the automotive testing industry. Skilled technicians, modern airports, up to date telecommunications and complete facility infra-structures mean that testing in North Sweden’s secure and quality environment is well supported.
